MADISON--Gretchen Gilham is among the people calling for the governor to change his mind and consider expanding Medicaid.
Her daughter recently found out that she's going to need a heart transplant--but she doesn't have insurance, she can't work and she hasn't been able to get on BadgerCare. "Without insurance she can't see the doctor and if she can't see the doctor here then they won't put her on the donor list," said Gilham.

It's stories like Gilham's that have some calling the governor's decision reckless. "It means that in essence the federal dollars that Wisconsin taxpayers send to Washington will now instead go to other taxpayers in other states for their Medicaid services, but not to citizens here," said State Rep. Cory Mason, D-Racine.

State Representative Mason is now hoping the governor will reconsider--as is Gilham.
"Yeah I'm terrified," she said. "What that means for her future is unknown...it's a life-threatening illness so every day is a blessing but how long she's going to be with us, you know, without the proper care is unknown."
