UPDATE: Stoughton Man Dies After Crash on Highway 51

November 14, 2012 – Charles T. Stabler, age 19 of Stoughton, has died at UW Hospital as a result of injuries he sustained in yesterday’s two-vehicle crash on Highway 51 in the town of Dunn

Madison, WI. November 13, 2012 – At approximately 7:55 am, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies, along with McFarland PD and Stoughton Fire and EMS, responded to a two-vehicle crash in the town of Dunn.

Charles Stabler was traveling southbound on Highway 51 in his 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. In an attempt to turn left onto Halverson Road, Mr. Stabler failed to yield to northbound traffic, and struck an oncoming GMC Sierra pick-up truck operated by Lori Lampe.

Mr. Stabler, age 19 of Stoughton, was ejected from his vehicle in the crash and was transported by Med Flight to UW Hospital with serious injuries. Deputies believe he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Lori Lampe, age 48 of Stoughton, suffered only minor injuries. She was transported to a local hospital by Stoughton EMS. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

    OMG this is so sad! We live in the same neighborhood. He was so young and he had a life ahead of him. RIP Charles Stabler

    I drove by at 9:00 am and the road was still closed. The car was in horrible condition. I was wondering if there was any update on the young fella yet? Anyone know how he is doing?

    "Deputies believe he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash."... gosh, I hope the lad recovers fully from this incident and other youthful drivers will learn from his neglect!
