Sunday Morning Wisconsin News Headlines

Posted Sunday, November 4, 2012 --- 8:10 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin news from The Associated Press:

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Pop star Katy Perry has sported a skin-tight minidress with President Barack Obama's campaign slogan "Forward" emblazoned across it at the president's rally in Milwaukee. Perry came on stage at yesterday's event initially wearing a red, white and blue dress and holding a microphone shaped like the Statue of Liberty's torch. But after her first song, a cover of Al Green's soul hit "Let's Stay Together," she tossed aside the dress to reveal the bright blue minidress.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says more people have voted early in Milwaukee this year than did in 2008 when the period to do so was nearly twice as long. Barrett spoke yesterday before President Barack Obama at a rally in Milwaukee that attracted thousands of people.

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- A Marshfield man is due in court next week on charges that he doused a pregnant woman in gasoline and threatened to set her on fire. A WAOW-TV report says Tyler Ress has an initial appearance scheduled for tomorrow morning. The 23-year-old faces four felony charges, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety and attempting to cause an abortion. He also faces three misdemeanor charges.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Milwaukee man convicted of beating his girlfriend's children and putting one of them in a clothes dryer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. As part of a plea agreement, 26-year-old Nicholas Fuchs pleaded no contest Friday to four felony charges of child abuse and recklessly endangering safety.
