Teen Hospitalized After Crashing To Avoid Deer

Posted: Sunday, December 9, 2012 -- 7:50 a.m.

A local teen is hospitalized after crashing her car to avoid a deer on Saturday. It happened around noon Saturday on County Road H near New Glarus. That's when police said a deer ran in front of the 17-year old driver's car. She swerved to miss the deer but lost control and slid off the road, overturning in a ditch.

She was hospitalized, and right now there's no word on her injuries.

Officials say it's always best to just hit a deer head on if you don't have time to stop safely. Swerving can be dangerous, especially once it starts snowing.

Plus then your insurance won't cover it if you go in the ditch. They will cover it if you hit the deer.
