UPDATE: Texas College Shooting was Between 2 People

UPDATED Tuesday, January 22, 2013 --- 4:40 p.m.

HOUSTON (AP) -- Authorities say the shooting at a Texas community college was the result of an altercation between two people, and at least one was a student.

Harris County Sheriff's Maj. Armando Tello says both people involved in the altercation were wounded and hospitalized. He says a college maintenance man was injured in the crossfire and also taken to a hospital.

Tello says a female who had a student ID also was hospitalized for a medical complication.

The shooting happened before 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lone Star College System campus about 20 miles north of downtown Houston.

HOUSTON (AP) -- Authorities in Texas say three people have been wounded in a shooting at a Houston-area community college.

Harris County Sheriff's Maj. Armando Tello says three people had been wounded and a person of interest has been detained.

The shooting took place Tuesday at the Lone Star College System campus about 20 miles north of downtown Houston.

A college official says the campus has been placed in lockdown.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A law enforcement official says Texas authorities have at least one person in custody in connection to the Lone Star College campus shooting in Houston, and local authorities think there could potentially be a second shooter.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss an ongoing case. The official says multiple injuries have been reported.

The Houston-area community college is on lockdown amid reports of a shooter on campus. Lone Star College System issued an alert on its website telling students and faculty to take immediate shelter or avoid the campus.

HOUSTON (AP) -- A college campus in Texas is on lockdown amid reports of a shooter on campus.

Lone Star College System issued an alert on its website Tuesday telling students and faculty on its Houston-area campus in north Harris County to take immediate shelter or avoid the campus. Spokesman Jed Young says there are reports of a shooter.

Aerial footage from local television stations shows emergency personnel attending to some people on stretchers and at least one being taken into an ambulance. Others can be seen running from a building led by officers.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says it has no immediate details.
