Two dangerous incidents in the past week occurred on frozen area lakes. The first happened in Eau Claire, after a large truck fell through a soft patch of ice causing a major rescue emergency.
The second, happened Monday in Green Bay. The U.S. Coast Guard was called in to rescue eight fisherman stranded on a piece of floating ice that separated due to heavy winds.
It's these incidents that are concerning Dane County officials. They say, many area lakes remain frozen, but are quickly thinning out because of warmer temperatures. Officials warn ice fisherman to be careful this time of year. Also, reminding inexperienced people to stay off the lakes.
