Information from the Green County Sheriff's Department:

A 21-year-old Verona woman admits to causing three crashes within just three hours Friday in Green and Dane County.

On Friday at 12:56 P.M. deputies were called to the first of three hit and run crash. It happened on CTH J just north of Hustad Valley Rd. in the Town of York.

A 35-year-old woman from Blanchardville reported that she and her infant child were northbound on CTH J when they observed a maroon colored Ford passenger car coming towards them in the wrong lane. The woman attempted to get the attention of the driver by honking her vehicle’s horn. She swerved at the last minute but the oncoming car still clipped her drivers side with a mirror. The wrong-way driver did not stop.

Deputies were responding to the first crash around 3:30 p.m. when a dispatcher alerted them to a single vehicle crash in a ditch on Quarry Road in the Town of Adams. Witnesses reported a similar vehicle description to the first crash. But before deputies could arrive, the driver was pulled out of the ditch by another vehicle and kept driving.

Finally, at 3:44 P.M. Green County Dispatch was alerted to a third crash. This was a head-on collision on CTH JG, just north of Green County’s CTH J, in Dane County. This time deputies got to the scene in time to stop the driver, 21-year-old Danielle S. Kraus. The Verona resident admitted to causing and driving away from both previous crashes.

Kraus was cited for Operating Left of Center, Failure to Maintain Control, Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of a Motor Vehicle Crash and Hit and Run - Occupied Vehicle. Kraus was issued a mandatory court appearance for the Green County charges and was turned over to Dane County Deputies.

She should have been arrested. How could she not be taken to jail?

So was she under the influence, or just a really bad driver?

Maybe she should think about staying off the road, or otherwise everyone else should.
