VIDEO REPORT: WIAA and UW Reach Agreement

Posted Friday November 16, 2012 --- 4:15 p.m.

For fans and athletes it's the perfect ending to a season. A trip to state and Camp Randall Stadium.

" I think I'm very excited about it. If we ever get a chance that we could play here."

For Eli Powe and the rest of his teammates from Alma Center's Lincoln High School their season didn't turn out the way they would have liked.

Instead of playing on the field, they'll be sitting in the stands. But today's news that the WIAA and UW reached a deal was exciting for them because after all there's always next year.

The deal is good for seven years and covers more than just football.
Boys basketball, golf, wrestling and softball are all included in the new agreement.

At a press conference Friday both sides said many players, including the City of Madison and Dane County, had a role in getting this deal done. But both sides had to make concessions at the negotiating table.

Dave Anderson, the WIAA's Executive Director says, " There's been a relationship with the WIAA, the UW and the City of Madison for nearly as long as there has been a WIAA."
