MADISON — On Wednesday, February 1, 2012, special agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), with assistance from deputies from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at the home of Daniel M. Taubert, located at 1839 Division Street in the Village of East Troy, as part of an ongoing investigation.

On Thursday, February 14, 2013, Taubert was charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography, a felony, and one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a felony. An initial appearance in this case is scheduled for March 6, 2013, at 1 pm in Walworth County Circuit Court.

According to the Criminal Complaint, an analysis of the defendant’s Apple Mac Pro computer by a computer forensic analyst with DCI uncovered 18 images of child pornography, and an email account associated with the distribution of child pornography, according to the complaint. In an interview with investigators, Taubert admitted to downloading and sharing child pornography, according to the complaint.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office is a member of Wisconsin's ICAC Task Force. Questions concerning this case should be directed to the Walworth County District Attorney's Office. A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
