Wis. Budget Surplus Grows to $484 Million

Posted Thursday, January 24, 2013 --- 3:26 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin's budget surplus is projected to be higher than previously estimated.

The latest estimate by the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau released Thursday puts the surplus at $484 million. That is up from the $348 million projection made by Gov. Scott Walker's administration in November.

The higher surplus means Walker and lawmakers will have more money to play with when setting the next state budget that takes effect in July.

Walker on Tuesday said he was looking at an income tax cut of at least $340 million, in addition to putting more money into education. He releases his budget Feb. 20.

Republican co-chairs of the Legislature's budget committee say the numbers show the state's economy is improving.

Where are the earthy masses of squalid do-gooders yearning for the head of Walker today? When are the protests demanding the end to these draconian and unfair state surpluses? Where are the rabid mouth-foamers crying out over the destruction of their once great land built upon social justice? When can we expect to see the implosion of the common working man as predicted, held under the boot of those evil capitalists? Is it not enough that these unfair and unjust surpluses come from from the mouths of the poor? Can't something be done about the abject failure the state is experiencing as was predicted at the hands of this madman and his capitalist cronies, taking every dime for themselves and leaving scraps for everyone else? Uh huh. Sound familiar? I thought so. If you were part of the foaming pack of dogs, depicting Walker as the devil, then feel free to support your ignorance here for all to see, thank you.

Money borrowed on loans in previous years still have to be paid off . Shouldn't the access be put towards that , instead of kicking them down the road at a higher rate of interest ? I know if I did this with my budget it would be considered a bad practise !

Thank you Scott Walker. All the haters in Madison have nothing but hatred for this news. Of course, if there was a Democrat as a Governor, they would all ready be erecting a bronze statue of them. ( That, and figuring out what other entitlement programs to spend it on. )
