BUTLER, Wis. (AP) -- An oil recycling facility in Waukesha County will pay $140,000 in fines to the state for 11 violations of Wisconsin hazardous waste laws.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced the judgement Monday against Benz Oil Inc., located in the Village of Butler. His office says the company has revised its practices and is now in compliance with the law.

The Department of Natural Resources says that used oil does not readily break down when released into the soil or groundwater and that it can contain toxic chemicals and heavy metals.
