Posted Friday, November 23, 2012 --- 7:40 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Several news staffers at the Madison-based radio station WTDY have been laid off, including talk-show host John "Sly" Sylvester. A company memo says this week's layoffs included all but one member of the news, traffic and on-air staff at 1670 WTDY-AM and 106 DOT 7 WTDY-FM.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee police are investigating four apparently unrelated deaths and a series of five nonfatal shootings that happened in a nine-hour span overnight. In the first case, a juvenile suspect is in custody for allegedly stabbing and killing a 25-year-old relative Wednesday evening. Then, just before midnight, a shooting in a barbershop left an 18-year-old man dead and a 21-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two Milwaukee uniform companies have charged Governor Scott Walker's administration nearly $26,000 for new state Capitol police outfits. Invoices show Lark Uniform Outfitters, Incorporated billed the state Department of Administration $1,279 for gold and silver buttons and caps. Badger Uniforms billed the agency $24,500 for shirts and pants.

TWO RIVERS, Wis. (AP) -- A fishing village in eastern Wisconsin is hosting a centennial celebration in honor of a schooner that sank in Lake Michigan exactly 100 years ago. The Rouse Simmons was carrying Christmas trees from Michigan to Illinois when it sank on November 23rd, 1912. To honor the lives lost, the Rogers Street Fishing Village in Two Rivers is hosting a centennial celebration today and tomorrow.
