ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) -- A 35-year-old Walworth County man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a friend's 2-year-old girl, and could face more than 60 years in prison.

A jury found Scott L. Anderson guilty of child sexual assault this week. He's scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 11.

He was charged with fondling the girl through her diaper. He lived with the girl's mother, whose four children called him "Papa."

The mother called police in September 2011 saying she found Anderson sleeping with his hand in the girl's diaper. Anderson didn't deny that account, but testified that he didn't realize where his hand was until he woke up, and that he wasn't touching her for sexual pleasure.

A Janesville Gazette report says the jury also convicted Anderson of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
