The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office is releasing the name of the female that was killed this morning in a single vehicle traffic crash in the Town of Verona. The crash occurred on CTH PB south of Purcell Road. The crash was reported to the Sheriff’s Office at or about 3:22AM. The woman is identified as 22-year-old Devan M. Gunderson-Vanwitzenburg from Verona.

According to the Medical Examiner's Office, her death was the result of the injuries sustained in the crash. Toxicology testing is underway at this time.

This case remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Information from the Dane County Sheriff's Dept.

At 3:22 am on Friday, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Verona Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on CTH PB, approximately .2 of a mile south of Purcell Rd., in the Township of Montrose.

Upon arrival, a vehicle was discovered on its roof on the west side of County Highway PB. The female driver, who had been ejected, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies believe that the driver had been traveling northbound on County Highway PB when she lost control. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest in a field.

County Highway PB was closed for approximately 3 hours while the emergency responders worked at the scene. Deputies believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash. The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the woman following the notification to the family.

Dane County authorities say one woman is dead after a car crash just south of Verona.

It happened Friday morning on County Rd. PB. Authorities say the driver lost control and that speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.

County Rd. PB was shut down between Sunset Drive and Sun Valley Parkway due to the crash.
