MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin blood center is launching a summer donation drive.
Stevens Point Journal Media reported Tuesday (http://spjour.nl/1pjLt0s ) that the nonprofit BloodCenter of Wisconsin wants to collect 1,500 pints by Aug. 11 through its You to the Rescue campaign.
Center officials say the demand for blood rises in the summer because more people travel and get into crashes. But supply lags due largely to student vacations.
BloodCenter of Wisconsin supplies blood to 50 hospitals and 29 counties across Wisconsin.
