The Janesville Police Department, Mercy Health System and the Rock County Health Department have established permanent prescription drug drop-off boxes for all of Rock County.
Authorities say the boxes provide you with an easy, secure and responsible way to properly dispose of prescription drugs.
To dispose of unwanted medicines:
1. Gather all unwanted medicines
2. If possible, leave all medicines in their original containers. Black out any personal information on the bottle.
3. Bring the medicines to the secured drop-off box at one of the following locations. The boxes are available 24/7.
The Rock Co. Health Department says that in 2013, they collected 4,329 lbs of drugs.
If you have questions you can call the Janesville Police Department at (608) 755-3100.
