VIDEO REPORT: Former Packer Tauscher Backing Concussion Bill

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Longtime Green Bay Packer offensive lineman Mark Tauscher is throwing his support behind a bill in the Wisconsin Legislature designed to reduce youth concussions.

Tauscher on Wednesday joined doctors, a lobbyist for the National Football League and others in support of the bill.

The measure has passed the Assembly but stalled in the Senate.

Bill sponsor Sen. Alberta Darling called on the public to contact their senator to urge passage. She says some Republicans are opposed to placing mandates on schools and want to make compliance voluntary.

The proposal would require that young athletes who suffer what appears to be a concussion would have to be immediately removed from the activity and not be allowed to return until examined by a health care provider and given written clearance.
