JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus recipients in the Janesville area are having problems with the state-contracted ride service hired to drive them to medical appointments.
The Janesville Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1q439v4 ) there are few substantiated complaints compared to the number of rides the service provides. But the newspaper spoke to numerous people who had problems with Missouri-based MTM.
Rider Jeremy Smith says a driver once asked him for gas money and another showed up with a spare tire.
MTM spokeswoman Michele Lucas says in a statement that it's never acceptable for drivers to ask for money. She also encourages clients to report problems.
Rock County mobility manager Justin Svingen suggests people having problems call the Legislative Audit Bureau fraud hotline.
MTM subcontracts with a network of providers throughout the state for transport.
