Rock Co. Health Dept. Offers Information on Radon

Posted January 4, 2010 --- 11:14 a.m.

Release from the Rock County Health Department:

In honor of National Radon Action Month, the second topic featured on the Health Topic of the Month, the newest section to Rock County Health Department’s website, is radon.

This new presentation focuses on how radon problems in the home are created, solutions to fix them, and radon’s negative health effects. For instance, did you know that radon causes more than 20,000 lung cancer deaths each year and is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers? You can learn more about this and other interesting facts by watching the presentation.

This Health Topic of the Month presentation also includes an entertaining music video from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency urging residents to test their homes for radon. Watch the presentation today on the Health Department website at www.co.rock.wi.us!

For more information about radon, please contact the Rock County Health Department at 757-5440 or 364-2010.
