Information from Department of Transportation news release:
Construction work on Interstate 39 from the Dane County line to WIS 60, Columbia County, is expected to begin Feb. 23. Crews will be working to replace 3.71 miles of pavement and install median safety walls.
Two lanes of traffic will remain open in each direction. Speeds will be reduced to 55 mph in the work zone.
Motorists should anticipate delays during peak hours, particularly westbound traffic on Friday afternoons and eastbound traffic on Sunday afternoons. Alternate routes are recommended.
The project will run from Feb. 23 to May 22 and from Sept. 9 to Nov. 20, 2009. No work will be conducted between Memorial Day and Labor Day and all six lanes will be open at that time.
