UPDATE: “Slow, No Wake" Expanded for Rock County

UPDATED Thursday, March 12, 2009 --- 1:20 p.m.

From Rock County Sheriff's Office:

The City of Janesville, Town of Janesville, and Town of Fulton have asked Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden to declare a “slow-no-wake” zone restriction on the portion of the Rock River that flows within their jurisdictions.

The Sheriff’s Office will post Slow-No-Wake signage at their respective boat ramp facilities and enforcement of this ordinance will be initiated until written notice to remove this limit is provided.

"Slow-no-wake" speed means the minimum speed at which a motorized watercraft is able to move and maintain adequate steerage control.

Traveling even slightly above that minimum speed and creating a wake of any discernable size constitutes a violation of the restriction.
