Press Release:

Perennial Favorite Girl Scout Program Now a Fall Event

Girl Scouts are excited and ready to hit local neighborhoods as they go door-to-door asking friends, family, and neighbors an important question: would you like to buy a box of Girl Scout cookies? The Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program has entered a new era in our area – it is now an annual fall event!

With the merger of Girl Scouts of Badger Council, Girl Scouts of Black Hawk Council, Girl Scouts of Riverland Council, and parts of Girl Scouts of Green Hills Council, the newly formed Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council which provides Girl Scouting in south-central and southwest Wisconsin has moved the January program to an October program for the girls. Autumn means football, fests, and fabulous outdoor weather and it now means Girl Scout cookie time!

Girl Scouts will begin selling door-to-door Friday, October 2, 2009. The cookie program runs through Sunday, October 18, 2009. As always, 100 percent of the proceeds remains local to support girls, troops, and Girl Scout programming and activities.

This fall, Girl Scouts will be selling such favorite treats as Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbreads, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, and Lemonades along with Thanks-a-Lots and the individually packaged-portion controlled Daisy-Go-Rounds. Nutritional information is available on the Girl Scout Cookie Order Card or by logging onto www.abcsmartcookies.com.

The Girl Scouts will also be offering the Girl Scout Cookie Share Program again this year to support local agencies and organizations as well as military troops and families. Cookie Share is a true win-win opportunity as cookie share cookies support the Girl Scout and her goals, serves as a gift to an organization or group, and provides the purchaser the joy of giving as well as a tax-deductible donation.

Girls have big dreams and the Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program helps give girls the skills and ability to make them come true . . . with the help of boxes of tasty treats and a lot of support from friends, family, and neighbors who generously make dreams come true.
