Press Release from Dean:

Dean Clinic Teams Up to Educate Parents in Oregon
Join Two Dean Clinic Physicians for Parent University on October 20

Oregon, WI – Parenting is no easy job, which is why Dean Clinic is joining forces with the Oregon School District and the Oregon Public Library for a morning of informative and educational workshops. Parent University will take place Saturday, October 20 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at Rome Corners Intermediate School, located at 1111 South Perry Parkway in Oregon.

Parent University is free for families with kids of all ages. It will focus on three main topics: helping your child learn in the 21st century, health and wellness, as well as parenting awareness.

Dr. Joanna Bisgrove and Dr. Laura Mendyk, family medicine physicians at Dean Clinic – Oregon, will be conducting seminars on normal childhood development in grade school children, how to survive puberty, and mental health concerns for school kids of all ages. Many other community experts will be conducting seminars on topics such as keeping kids reading, parenting the underperforming student, managing media for young children, college preparation planning, and many more.

“Raising healthy, intelligent and well-rounded children is a team effort between primary care providers, parents, school educators and community leaders,” says Dr. Bisgrove. “It’s that ‘it takes a village to raise a family’ philosophy.”

“I often feel that I don’t have time to discuss all of the issues involved with normal development during an office visit,” adds Dr. Mendyk. “This is a chance to get out into the community and connect with parents who live in Oregon and the surrounding communities.”

Parent University is primarily for parents of school-age children living in McFarland and Stoughton, as well as Oregon. However, it is open to anyone who would like to attend. Registration can be done in advance (required if childcare is needed) or onsite. To register in advance, please go to or call (608) 835-4097.
