Press Release from the Dane Co. Sheriff's Office:
Madison, WI. April 17, 2013 – The Dane County Sheriff’s Office wants to inform motorists of possible traffic delays on Highway 12/18 (Beltline) on Friday, April 19th.
The annual Midwest Horse Fair begins Friday morning at the Alliant Energy Center. Hundreds of spectators and exhibitors will be arriving during the height of the morning commute, and authorities expect both east and westbound lanes of the Beltline to be congested.
For motorists traveling to the event, the Sheriff’s Office is asking that they exit at Rimrock Road and use the Rusk Avenue entrance first. However, the Rimrock Road and Olin Avenue entrances will also be open if the Rusk Avenue entrance is backed up.
In an effort to alleviate some of the traffic issues, both Dane County Sheriff’s Office Beltline Service trucks will be operating from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm on Friday. In addition, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies will be directing traffic near the entrances of the Alliant Energy Center, and signs from the WI Department of Transportation will be placed along the Beltline to help direct motorists.
The Sheriff’s Office would ask any motorists that can avoid Highway 12/18 near the Park Street, Rimrock Road, and John Nolan exits on Friday morning and late afternoon to do so. The Midwest Horse Fair continues through the weekend. As always, please remember to travel at an appropriate speed and buckle up.
