Press Release from MMSD:
The Madison Metropolitan School District will hold district-wide registration for the 2013-14 school year of kindergarten on Monday, March 4 from 1:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at MMSD elementary schools. To be eligible for kindergarten, the child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2013.
Kindergarten registration is only for families with a child who is not currently enrolled in MMSD’s four-year-old kindergarten (4K) program or for families who are new to the district. Parents of children who currently attend a MMSD 4K program do not need to register again. They will need to attend the enrollment date at their child’s school in August, 2013.
Parents or guardians should register their child at their attendance area school. To save time, parents or guardians are encouraged to pre-register online, print a verification form and bring that form with them to registration.
They will also be required to show proof of age for their student (birth certificate or medical assistance card) and proof of residency (utility bill, lease or mortgage). Children are welcome to accompany parents, but they are not required to attend.
Parents or guardians who are unable to register on March 4 can register at their attendance area elementary school or at the MMSD enrollment office in room 205 of the Doyle Administration Building at 545 W. Dayton Street any day school is in session.
To pre-register online, please visit: www.mmsd.org/enroll.
Registration for the district’s successful four-year-old kindergarten program is also still open. Parents who also have a child who is eligible for four-year-old kindergarten can also register them for the 2013-14 school year at the same time.
Four-year-old kindergarten in the Madison Metropolitan School District, now in its second year, is showing promise in closing achievement gaps, according to new data from the district. More information about 4K is available at www.mmsd.org/4K.
