Madison School & Community Recreation is able to better help low-income children learn how to swim thanks to a $6,000 donation from the Badger Aquatics Club.
MSCR says more than 120 kids who attend the Allied Learning Center Summer Child Care Program are getting weekly swim lessons thanks to the grant. That is just one example.
MSCR offers 42 weekly group swim lessons at three Madison Metro High School Pools. More than 700 participants ranging in age from 5-13 get a chance to learn how to swim.
For many kids, this serves as they only chance they get to learn about water safety and receive swimming lessons.
