Madison Schools Announce Changes to Make Up Snow Days

From the Madison Metropolitan School District:

Elementary students in the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) will attend a full day of school on the final day of the year instead of an early release, as the district announces plans for making up instructional time due to school closings. MMSD closed for two days due to snow this school year.

For elementary schools, the final day of school, June 13, will be a full day of school instead of an early release day. At the high school level, there will be changes to the schedule for La Follette High School only. La Follette will add four instructional minutes to the end of every regularly scheduled day and 25 minutes to the last day of the year. There are no changes to middle school schedules.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requires schools to meet statewide standards for number of days and hours of instruction during the school year. Because of unscheduled school closures, some changes are needed to meet these requirements. The number of required hours varies at each level.
