The Madison Water Utility will soon send urgent notices to more than 5,600 customers about water meter upgrades.
The utility will ask the customers to schedule and complete the required installation appointments within the next ten days.
Customers who receive the notice should call the phone number listed in the letter.
The utility recently shut off water service to 19 homes because home owners did not respond to notices to upgrade their meters.
Officials say those customers were first notified last summer about the city-wide installation of new Project H20 meters.
