Press Release from the Rock Co. Sheriff's Office:
This year’s prom season begins Saturday, April 28 for Parker, Orfordville, and Clinton high schools; followed by Edgerton, Milton, Craig, and Beloit Memorial on Saturday, May 5; while Evansville and Beloit Turner high schools bring the season to a close on Saturday, May 12.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office recognizes a student’s participation in prom as being a positive and memorable experience that includes the ability to operate on highways – safely. In response, the Sheriff’s Office will utilize grant monies for additional deputies to cover area highways on Saturday’s during prom season. Deputies will focus on ensuring motorists comply with traffic, alcohol, and drug laws.
Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office requests parents, teachers, and school administrators remind students of the dangers associated with impaired or reckless driving, as well as the consequences of underage drinking and participating in school activities.
We cannot do this alone, so please speak to your child or student about buckling up, slowing down, and saying no to alcohol and drugs.
