The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announcing it’s first two carry concealed weapons classes to be held at the Sheriff’s Office on December 2nd and 3rd, 2011.
Each class will be eight hours in length beginning at 8:00 AM and ending at 4:00 PM.
The cost for the class is $100.00, which will cover cost of materials and instruction.
The classes will be limited to 25 students and is on a first come, first serve basis. Two classes are being offered to accommodate those who can attend during the week and others who can only attend on a weekend.
The classes will be an overview of the carry concealed weapons law that goes into effect November 1, 2011. Students are encouraged to read the new law and bring questions they may have. The guide from the Department of Justice will be issued to students.
The following topics will be discussed throughout the classroom portion:
- Overview of Wisconsin Act 35 (CCW)
- Review of Department of Justice CCW Curriculum
- Reciprocity Issues
- Deadly Force and Self-Defense Issues
- Safety Concerns with carrying concealed
- Weapon Safety
- Actions when coming in contact with Law Enforcement
Along with the classroom training, there will be range training with live-fire in the afternoon. Students will be required to bring their own ammunition (50 rounds). The range portion will be outdoors and students are encouraged to dress appropriately.
Students, as well as weapons used during the range portion, may be subject to background/criminal history checks.
