HUBERTUS, Wis. (AP) -- New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan has drawn more than 1,000 Catholics to a Milwaukee-area church for a special Mass of Thanksgiving.
Dolan served as the Milwaukee archbishop from 2002 to 2009. He says he loved the people and always felt at home here.
He was elevated to a cardinal in the Roman Catholic Church earlier this year. He says he was honored by his elevation, but adds that the attention should go to Jesus Christ and his church, not to him.
Dolan was scheduled to deliver the Mass at Holy Hill in Hubertus.
The basilica seats 2,000 people. A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report (http://bit.ly/JQ1ese ) says some people arrived as early as 4:30 a.m. to ensure they'd have a seat.
