An 11-year-old Delavan girl died at the scene of a crash in Walworth County.
This crash occurred on Hwy 89 south of Island Road in the Town of Whitewater on October 24, 2012, approximately 6:15pm.
This 11-year-old girl is identified as Avery McCarthy of Delavan, WI.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single-vehicle crash and multiple Deputies were sent to the scene. Upon arrival, Deputies found a 2003 Nissan Sentra had left Hwy 89 and struck a utility pole with severe damage.
The driver of the vehicle is identified as Jadrian Ochoa, a 17-year-old female from Delavan, WI.
She had exited the vehicle.
Another 17-year-old female passenger is identified as Cierra Yakes of Darien, WI. The 17-year-old and the 11-year-old female were trapped with critical injuries and had to be extricated. The 11-year-old was in the back seat. The 17-year-old was in the front passenger seat.
All persons in the vehicle were wearing their seatbelts at the time of this crash. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected at this time as contributing factors in this crash.
The 17-year-old passenger was extricated and Flight For Life transported her from the scene with critical injuries. Her status is unknown at this time.
The Walworth County Crash Investigation Unit was summoned and arrived on scene. Hwy 89 was shut down for about three hours during the crash investigation.
