TOWN OF MARION, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities say a 16-year-old Fond du Lac boy drowned in Silver Lake in central Wisconsin.
The Waushara County Sheriiff's Office said Sunday that Blake A. Lieders was swimming with two friends in Silver Lake in the Town of Marion shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday when they noticed Lieders becoming distressed.
According to the Oshkosh Northwestern, the sheriff's report says the friends attempted to get Lieders to shore and were assisted by a boater who threw a flotation device to the swimmers. But they were unable to retrieve it before losing contact with the victim.
Divers from the Princeton Fire Department recovered his body in about 9 feet of water.
