PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) -- Police in western Kentucky say a tractor-trailer truck struck and killed two people on a motorcycle that was stopped because of another wreck in front of them.
Paducah police spokeswoman Robin Newberry said the motorcycle was stopped in a westbound lane of Interstate 24 at the Ohio River bridge between Kentucky and Illinois on Tuesday afternoon.
The Paducah Sun (http://bit.ly/LojTcI ) reported the two people on the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not released, pending family notification of their deaths.
Newberry said a truck driven by James M. Hoerman of Antigo, Wis., failed to slow down when he came upon stopped traffic, clipped the mirror off another truck, hit the back of the motorcycle and ran into the rear of a third truck. Hoerman received minor injuries.
