4-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Pool At His Wisconsin Home

Posted Tuesday, June 26, 2012 --- 5:35 p.m.

TOWN OF BRISTOL, Wis. (AP) -- A 4-year-old boy has drowned in a pool at his family's home in Kenosha County.

Authorities responded late Tuesday morning to a report the boy had been found without signs of life in the pool.

The sheriff's office says the boy had been inside the home with another sibling. The child's mother had her 8-year-old watch the 4-year-old for a few minutes while she was busy. She later went looking for the boy and found him in the pool.

The mother began CPR while rescue crews were on their way. Deputies and Town of Bristol Rescue Squad arrived and performed CPR on the boy for about a half-hour but were unable to revive him.

An investigation continues. No other information was released.

Please remember the families read your comments. She didn't leave her home with the 8 year old in charge of a 4 year old...She was there! I'm sure she feels guilty enough without the added judgment. God is the only judge remember and instead of pointing blame at this horrible accident, just pray for everyone involved.

Preventable, indeed. How dare any parent put that kind of responsibility on a child! The whole family is traumatized by their loss, but think about how f'd up this kid is going to be for THE REST OF HIS LIFE! This child is going to be haunted by the thought that they were "at fault," and no amount of counseling can make that go away! Learning experience for the rest of the world... BABIES CANNOT CARE FOR BABIES!

It's not uncommon to ask an older sibling to help with a younger sibling. I actually HIRE my 8 year old neighbor to watch over my 3 year old WHILE I AM HOME so I can get things done in the house. I pray for the family and especially the sibling.
