MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A conservative group that had explored circulating petitions to recall Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle is giving up.
Wisconsin Interests Now announced Friday that it will focus instead on voting Doyle out of office next year should he decide to run again. Doyle has not announced his plans yet, but he's raising money for another run.
The group had launched a Web site and was recruiting volunteers. But the task was daunting. They needed signatures from 540,000 signatures to force a recall vote.
