WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) -- Country singer Billy Currington has canceled his appearance at the Wisconsin State Fair after his stage collapsed during a performance in Canada.
He was on his last song at the Big Valley Jamboree in Alberta when the stage collapsed Saturday. One person was killed and 75 injured.
Currington had a minor concussion. Bass player Alex Stevens was pinned under wreckage and underwent surgery to repair a severed artery and nerves in his arm. He was receiving treatment in Nashville.
In a news release, the Wisconsin State Fair says country music artist Keith Anderson will replace him for the show Saturday. He will co-headline with Jason Michael Carroll, originally slated to perform with Currington.
In a Twitter message, Currington said he hopes to be on the road again soon.
