MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A state appeals court says a Kenosha teen was properly convicted of helping beat a woman to death.

According to court documents, Kawanis Trotter was 14 when he and 15-year-old Roddee Daniel broke into Capri Walker's house in 2008 and stole her Xbox game system. One of the teens beat Walker to death with a baseball bat. Both told police the other did it.

Daniel was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide. Trotter pleaded guilty to being a party to felony murder.

Trotter argued he should have been moved to juvenile court. The 2nd District Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday moving the case would have depreciated its seriousness and Trotter had an extensive criminal record.

Trotter's attorney, Jeffrey Jensen, says he will ask the state Supreme Court to take the case.
