WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- Organizers of the Badger State Winter Games have crunched the numbers and concluded this year's event generated a profit.

The Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureau's Sports Authority says the games brought in revenue of $69,000 with expenses of roughly $59,000 for a profit of $10,000.

In addition, the Sports Authority estimates the economic impact for the area is nearly $596,000. About 1,400 athletes took part alpine skiing, figure skating, curling, bowling and other competitions Jan. 21 to Feb. 5 this year.

WAOW-TV says the Convention and Visitors Bureau recently bought rights to the winter and summer games from the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation of Madison for $15,000.
