Baldwin Hopes For Obama Boost In Senate Race

Posted Friday, November 2, 2012 --- 11:40 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- President Barack Obama's three visits to Wisconsin over five days are certainly designed to insure he wins the state and its 10 electoral votes.

But Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin is hoping for a boost from Obama in her even tighter race against Republican Tommy Thompson.

Polls show both races are close, although in the most recent Marquette University Law School poll Obama's lead was twice that of Baldwin's.

The 14-year congresswoman appeared with the president in Green Bay on Thursday and with Vice President Joe Biden in Beloit on Friday. She is also going to be with Obama on Saturday in Milwaukee and in her hometown of Madison on Monday, the day before the election.

Thompson was with Romney Friday at State Fair Park.
