Beloit, Racine Still Worst Cities for Jobs

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Beloit and Racine still have the highest unemployment of any Wisconsin cities.

The Department of Workforce Development has released data that show Beloit's unemployment rate 14.1 percent in October, down from 14.4 percent in September but still the highest rate in the state. Racine was second highest at 12.9 percent, up from 12.8 percent in October.

Wausau was third at 10.5 percent, unchanged from September.

The state's unemployment rate for October was 7 percent.

Menominee County had the highest unemployment rate of the state's 72 counties at 14 percent, down from 14.4 percent in September. Rock County was second at 9.5 percent, unchanged from September. Dane County had the lowest unemployment of any count at 5 percent, unchanged from September.
