EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) -- Eau Claire police say a 90-year-old man drove his car onto a bike path, colliding with a bicyclist who later died of his injuries.
Police Lt. Tim Golden says the victim was a 51-year-old Eau Claire man. The man was riding his bike Friday about 12:30 p.m. when he was struck.
He was taken to a hospital with severe injuries.
Police Lt. Greg Weber says alcohol wasn't a factor in the collision. He says investigators are looking into whether the driver fell asleep, had a medical issue or just got confused.
An Eau Claire Leader-Telegram report (http://bit.ly/MyQJdr ) says the names of the driver and bicyclist haven't been released.
Weber says a police crash-reconstruction unit was expected to be at the collision site Saturday.
