ONALASKA, Wis. (AP) -- A 20-year-old Viroqua man is charged with reckless endangerment after he was found passed out with a 1-year-old child in a car.
Police say Cody Onshus had been smoking the prescription painkiller oxycodone.
Another motorist noticed the driver and a front-seat passenger apparently asleep in the car at a stop sign in Onalaska Friday. The woman reached in to turn off the ignition and picked up the child.
The La Crosse Tribune (http://bit.ly/N0RAzv) reports Onshus wasn't breathing and had turned blue. He and the passenger were taken to a hospital.
Prosecutors charged Onshus in La Crosse County with second-degree reckless endangerment and first-offense operating while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle. He was released on a signature bond.
Police say the child was turned over to Child Protective Services.
