MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Old child car seats can be recycled for free at various sites around Wisconsin on Saturday.
The recycling event is organized by the Safe Kids Wisconsin Coalition, led by Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
Car seats older than six years, those that are no longer needed or broken or were involved in a crash will be collected, dismantled and recycled. The coalition also warns that car seats purchased second hand may also pose a risk.
Businesses in Eau Claire, Madison, Wausau, Oconto, Plover and Marshfield are participating. Sites in La Crosse and Onalaska are accepting the car seats on April 27.
