MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Democratic candidate Lori Compas says she has raised $100,000 toward her effort to oust Republican state Sen. Scott Fitzgerald in an upcoming recall election.
Compas is a photographer from Fort Atkinson. She'll take on fake Democrat Gary Ellerman in a primary next month, with the winner facing Fitzgerald on June 5.
Compas released her fundraising totals Friday, ahead of a Monday deadline. Fitzgerald spokesman Lucas Vebber says Fitzgerald's campaign plans to release its fundraising totals Monday.
Compas says 98 percent of her donations were $100 or less. Her campaign says she has $85,000 cash on hand, and that none of the fundraising came from her own pocket.
Fitzgerald is one of four GOP state senators facing recall for supporting a bill that restricted certain collective-bargaining rights.
