EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources isn't too happy about the mysterious appearance of a Loch Ness monster poking its long neck out of the Chippewa River in Eau Claire.
The DNR wants the Loch Ness sculpture removed by the person who put it there because it's an illegal obstruction to a navigable waterway. DNR spokesman Dan Baumann says the monster needs to be removed sooner rather than later because it's a public safety concern.
A person claiming to be the creator emailed the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram (http://bit.ly/ILl70C ) and said the sculpture would be removed in the next 10 days. The Menards home improvement chain is interested in acquiring the guerrilla art. The Eau Claire retailer says its retention ponds would be a good home for the Loch Ness monster.
