UPDATE: Death Investigation In Beloit; Death Not Criminal Act

UPDATED Monday, October 22, 2012 --- 10:00 a.m.

From the Beloit Police Department:

An autopsy was completed on October 20, 2012 as part of the death investigation that commenced on October 19, 2012.

The results of the autopsy revealed that the individual died of a medical issue and not a criminal act.

The deceased is identified as Melvin Malone, age 58, of Beloit, WI.

The initial suspicion into Mr. Malone’s death was due to a fresh injury to his forehead.

The medical examiner determined that this injury had no effect into Mr. Malone’s death.

Based on the autopsy results, the investigation into Mr. Malone’s death is concluded.

From the Beloit Police Department:

On October 19, 2012, at about 3:10 a.m., the Beloit Police & Fire EMS Departments responded to an address in the 300 block of W. Grand Av. for an unknown problem.

Upon arrival, they found a 58 year old black male deceased in his residence.

The circumstances found at the scene dictated that further investigation was needed for his death.

Beloit Police Detectives and Evidence Technicians were summoned to the scene.

The initial call to the 911 Dispatch Center was placed by a neighbor. A white female had knocked on the neighbor’s door and requested the neighbor call for an ambulance for the deceased.

The white female left the scene prior to police arrival. The white female is only known to the neighbor as “Teresa”.

“Teresa” is described as having short blond hair, about 5’5” tall, and possibly in her 30’s to early 40’s.

Beloit Police Detectives are interested in speaking with “Teresa” in regards to this incident.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on October 20, 2012 to determine the cause of death.
