Decision 2012: Wisconsin Recall Pits Friends Against Each Other

Posted Saturday, May 5, 2012 --- 8:55 a.m.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) — Republican Gov. Scott Walker and his Democratic rivals aren't the only ones who can't get along as this spring's recalls heat up. Neither can some families and friends across Wisconsin.

As the June 5 recall election draws near, some people have stopped talking to each other about the governor. A Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday found nearly a third of voters who responded said they have stopped talking with someone about politics because of disagreements over the recalls or Walker.

Joni Bozart runs Carousel Consignments in Janesville. She says people come into her store constantly and get into arguments about Walker. She says she hasn't heard people argue this much since the Green Bay Packers traded quarterback Brett Favre. She says she wishes people would just stop fighting.

Thanks for "dropping the bomb" that split Wisconsin Gov. Walker. You described what you actions back then did to Wisconsin this past year very accurately.

I am someone who had people who I thought I was close friends with stop talking to me and instead begin insulting me because of my political views, it ended up causing such a caustic environment that I ended up leaving the employer I was with as we worked at the same place.
