EAA President Departing

Posted Tuesday, October 23, 2012 --- 10:00 a.m.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- The president of the Experimental Aircraft Association is leaving the organization.

Rod Hightower was just the third person to serve as president of the Oshkosh aviation association since it was founded in 1953.

Hightower has been president since September of 2010 when he succeeded Tom Poberezny. Before that, Poberezny's father, Paul, served as president of EAA from its inception to 1989.

Hightower says he'll be moving back to St. Louis where his wife and five children still reside. WLUK-TV (http://tinyurl.com/9xd2njj ) says EAA chairman Jack Pelton will guide the organization through its leadership transition.
