Early morning fire at Anchor Inn

UPDATED Monday, August 4, 2014 -- 2:55 p.m.

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. --- Damage from a fire at the Anchor Inn could leave the bar as a total loss. A survey of the damage put the cost at between $500,000 and $1,000,000, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

An investigation showed the fire began in a space above the kitchen. The cause of the fire is "undetermined." Right now investigators say there is no evidence of any type of crime; they have not ruled out an electrical cause for the fire.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice - Division of Criminal Investigations Fire Marshall are investigating the fire. A fire investigator from the ATF has assisted in the investigation.

Firefighters have been on scene all morning of a restaurant fire near Edgerton.

The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. Monday at the Anchor Inn. Authorities say the building is very old and appears to be a total loss.

One firefighter was injured in the fire, but his injuries are said to be minor.

Parts of Highway 59 east and westbound at Mallwood Drive we shut down due to the fire.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
